Living with Pulmonic stenosis
A rare heart condition in which the path from the right side of the heart to the lungs is narrowed.
Understanding Pulmonic stenosis
The narrowing can be at, above, or below the pulmonary valve. This makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the lungs. Symptoms and severity vary from person to person.
Signs & symptoms
Symptoms vary from person to person. GARD says they may include:
- Blue or purple lips, skin, and nails (cyanosis)
- Tiredness
- A heart murmur
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Fainting
Not everyone has every symptom. GARD's list comes from the Human Phenotype Ontology.
Diagnosis
- 1Talk with your doctor
Share the symptoms you've noticed, when they started and your family health history. Notes and photos can help.
- 2See a specialist
Your doctor may refer you to a specialist who knows rare conditions.
- 3Ask which tests can help
Your care team will decide which exams and tests can confirm the diagnosis.
- 4Connect with expert centers
Adult Congenital Heart Association may keep lists of experts for this condition.
