Living with Pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma syndrome 2

An inherited condition caused by changes in the SDHAF2 gene that leads to paraganglioma tumors.

Understanding Pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma syndrome 2

Pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma syndrome 2 (paragangliomas 2) is an inherited condition caused by a change in the SDHAF2 gene.

The SDHAF2 gene provides instructions for a protein needed for another protein, SDHA, to work properly. When SDHA doesn't work, paragangliomas can develop. These are rare tumors near the carotid artery, along nerve pathways in the head and neck, and in other parts of the body.
