Living with Oligodontia-cancer predisposition syndrome

A rare genetic condition with six or more permanent teeth missing from birth and a higher chance of certain cancers.

Understanding Oligodontia-cancer predisposition syndrome

Oligodontia-cancer predisposition syndrome is a rare genetic condition with six or more permanent teeth missing from birth and a higher chance of some cancers.

The teeth never develop, which can cause gaps in the smile and problems with chewing and jaw alignment. There is a higher chance of cancers, especially in the digestive tract, such as intestinal polyps or colorectal cancer at a young age, and of breast cancer. Some people also have signs of ectodermal dysplasia, such as sparse scalp hair and thin or missing eyebrows.
