Living with Median nodule of the upper lip

A rare family trait with a soft, painless bump under the upper lip from infancy.

Understanding Median nodule of the upper lip

Median nodule of the upper lip is a rare inherited facial difference with a small bump under the upper lip.

The nodule sits beneath the red edge of the upper lip and tapers into the frenulum. It is soft, easy to press, and causes no symptoms. It can be wide (up to 8 mm) or flat. Some nodules have shrunk with age. GARD notes no further descriptions have been published since 1994.
