Living with Fungal meningitis

A very rare infection that causes swelling in the membranes around the brain and spinal cord, mostly in people with weakened immune systems.

Understanding Fungal meningitis

Fungal meningitis is a very rare infection that causes swelling in the membranes around the brain and spinal cord.

In people with weakened immune systems, a fungal infection can start elsewhere in the body and then spread to the areas around the brain and spinal cord. For example, breathing in fungal spores from the environment can cause a lung infection that later spreads.
