Living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1C
A rare inherited nerve condition that can cause weakness and numbness, or a milder form with mostly tingling and numbness.
Understanding Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1C
It may look like classic Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, with weakness and wasting in the hands and feet, trouble walking, tingling, and less feeling of vibration and pain. Or it may be milder and mostly sensory, with tingling, less feeling, and pain without much weakness. High foot arches are common. It starts anywhere from childhood to adulthood.

Symptoms vary from person to person. GARD lists these among the most common:
- Tingling or pins and needles (paresthesia)
- Numbness
- High-arched feet (pes cavus)
- Trouble with coordination when walking

Not everyone has every symptom. GARD's list comes from the Human Phenotype Ontology.
