Living with Brachytelephalangy-dysmorphism-Kallmann syndrome

A rare genetic syndrome with short fingertip bones, distinct face, and possibly loss of smell and delayed puberty.

Understanding Brachytelephalangy-dysmorphism-Kallmann syndrome

Brachytelephalangy-dysmorphism-Kallmann syndrome is a rare condition with short fingertip bones and distinct facial features.

Features include a prominent square forehead, widely spaced inner eye corners, a small nose, flat cheekbones, a thin upper lip, and shorter height than relatives. It can come with loss of smell (anosmia) and low sex hormone function (hypogonadotropic hypogonadism), known as Kallmann syndrome. It is noticed in newborns.

Signs & symptoms

Symptoms vary from person to person. GARD lists these among the most common:

  • Short fingers and fingertip bones
  • Short or missing toenails
  • Loss of smell (anosmia)
  • Low sex hormone function (hypogonadism)
  • Broad forehead and short nose
  • Widely spaced inner eye corners

Not everyone has every symptom. GARD's list comes from the Human Phenotype Ontology.

  3. Ask which tests can help

Your care team will decide which exams and tests can confirm the diagnosis.

  4. Connect with expert centers
